1968 Smith-Corona Super Sterling

This sleek portable will serve you with flawless dependability and distinction.

This is an exquisite American-made, two-tone "robin egg" blue Smith-Corona Super Sterling typewriter, which was manufactured in 1968 (serial number 6SS-392377). It comes with the original vinyl clad locking molded steel case in great condition. The Super Sterling is fairly unique and popular, and for good reason -- they're an excellent machine to type on.

See this machine in action (practically the same except for the color):

It measures 14x13x6 inches and weighs 13 lbs (22 lbs. with the case). With a host of nice features, it's a full 88-character English keyboard, chrome return lever, line indicator, page gage, quick set margins, and personal touch selector (toggles between light, medium, and heavy key strikers). This model is also extremely easy to use and care for and uses universal ribbons, which is a great plus. For your convenience, a fresh new black-and-red ribbon is installed for immediate use.

This typewriter has an Elite typeface and types very crisp and legible. Cosmetically, this typewriter is in near-mint shape except for a few scuffs in the back of the frame. This was one of Smith-Corona's last manual portable designs, which went unchanged for decades because it was just about perfect.

This typewriter is one of our personal favorites, particularly because it combines SCM's trusty and smooth mechanism featured on all their 1950s-1980s manual portables with attractive, modern body design. The two-tone robin egg blue and light green is especially vibrant and gorgeous.

Mechanically, it is in excellent shape and is fully functional right down to the bell. Did we mention that it is an amazing typer? This typewriter is an excellent workhorse that can definitely be used heavily and reliably.

If you are looking for an iconic beauty to use heavily and reliably, then this is an excellent option, and one of our highest recommendations.
