1975 Olivetti Lettera 25
Made by Olivetti
Out of all designs of typewriters, this one looks very futuristic.
This is a nice Olivetti Lettera 25 typewriter made in Mexico in 1975 (serial number 4968503). The mechanics on the Lettera 25 are practically the same as the Dora, the famous Valentine, Lettera 32 and the Studio models of the same era, only the casings and other minor details like the key tops and space bar are different. It does not come with a carrying bag or case.
This typewriter measures 12.75 x 14.75 x 3.5 inches and weighs 11 lbs.
The carriage return can be set to zero so that the platen revolves freely at 1, 2, or 3 lines. The unmarked key on the top left of the keyboard is the margin release and one nice feature, as on all Olivetti portables, is being able to put an indent for a new paragraph by pressing the "blank" key while operating the carriage return.
You may find yourself naturally typing quite fast on this Lettera 25, around the 50-55 words per minute, without the keys getting entangled. Print quality is excellent as one would expect from an Olivetti. One great thing about the 25 is the way it always loads the paper accurately so there's no need to use the paper release lever to align the page correctly. The bell is nice and loud, too.
The Olivetti Lettera 25 manual typewriter features a carriage locking lever to keep the paper secure. The three position ribbon selector offers blue/black, red, and stencil. Paper, carriage, and margin release levers allow for easy resetting. The die cast plastic casing makes this machine lightweight and portable. The keyboard has 43 typing keys and 86 characters. It does not come with a carrying case. Handles paper as wide as 8.9 inches.
For your convenience, a fresh new ribbon spool has been installed for immediate use.
Out of all designs of typewriters, this one looks very futuristic compared to the average typewriter. The mechanism is very reliable and efficient, and would be perfect for heavy use. Overall, it's quite a pleasant, cheerful, and fast machine to use. It would also be perfect to use during our stay-at-home period.
